Why Me?

Have you ever asked yourself “why me”? I have; many times.

The wonder begins

If you have asked yourself why God chose you, you’re not alone. This thought may come from a feeling of worth-less-ness, being unworthy, or truly not knowing your identity in Christ. For me, it was all of the above.

If you haven’t asked the question of why God chose you, I encourage you to. Not from a perspective of worth-less-ness, but quite the opposite. Allow it to encourage you. The truth is God could have chosen anyone, but He chose you.

But why?

We may never be able to answer that question. What I do know is you are special. God placed unique gifts and talents on the inside of you. He looked through time and space and had thoughts about you. He thought about how you would look, what your personality would be, the gifts He would place on the inside of you, and the plan He has for you, among many other things. You were not an afterthought. You were His main thought.

When Jesus paid the precious price that He did, He had you in mind.

1 Peter 2:23-24 says, “When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. ‘He himself bore our sins’ in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; ‘by his wounds you have been healed.’ For ‘you were like sheep going astray,’ but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.”

You are special

I pray you believe that you are special. The truth is you are. Don’t get me wrong, were are not perfect. If we were, we wouldn’t have the need for a Savior.

He loves you, very much

We could never truly repay the price Jesus paid for us to be saved, redeemed, and in right standing with our heavenly Father. But that doesn’t mean we can’t try.

If at one time you used to talk to God, but you haven’t in a while, I encourage you to. He loves you and He’s waiting to hear from you. If you have never spoken to Him, it’s never too late to start.

Allowing Jesus to become Lord of your life takes one confession and believing in Him. Romans 10:9 says, “if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
